Estate Planning
We understand that the choice of an attorney to prepare your estate plan is a very personal matter and it is important for you to be comfortable with your choice. Clients are unique, with individual concerns and varying family dynamics. It is our job to listen carefully to you, to assess your situation, to discuss your options in understandable terms, and to recommend an estate plan that best meets your needs. There is no charge for an initial appointment.
We generally charge a flat fee which includes any necessary follow-up meetings, preparing the estate plan, and a final meeting to sign your documents. If your estate plan includes a revocable living trust, the fee includes the work required to make sure that your assets are placed in the trust properly. The flat fee arrangement has significant benefits. Clients do not have to worry about follow up questions if they arise or feel rushed in meetings or telephone calls, and there are no surprises at the conclusion of our work.
The documents we prepare are hand-crafted for you. Usually, when we draft a trust or will, we also prepare financial and medical powers of attorney. If a trust is prepared, a certification of trust, assignment to trust, a pour-over will, and various documents transferring specific assets to the trust are included.
We are experienced in estate planning matters and we believe that you will see that in the work we do for you. Please read our Articles ‘Choosing a Revocable Trust’ and ‘Selecting a Trustee’ on this website.
